Summer is here and it’s time to think about how you can look after your skin and do what you can to keep it looking it’s best in the hotter months. We have put together a list of simple and easy actions you can take to feel your best this summer.

1. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate

During the summer months, we must address the changing needs of our skin. First and foremost is to keep your skin hydrated. The most effective way to do this, of course, is to drink plenty of water. The skin is essentially waterproof and no matter how much you put on the outside it will not hydrate, so you need to drink plenty of water to keep skin moist, plump and healthy. Tea or watered-down cordial count as hydration, if you’re not keen on plain water. Coffee and alcohol will draw moisture away and leave you dehydrated, so if your skin is not at its best, these areas should be addressed before any amount of skin products can do their work. This is something often not talked about by skincare companies, trying to suggest that their particular product is the answer. 2. Diet

Once you are hydrated, aid your skin’s natural radiance by eating plenty of fruit and veg. Fruit salads can be a useful option, if you are not keen on an apple a day! Salads come in so many varieties and the internet is there to offer a multitude of recipes to suit all tastes. 3. Sunscreen

Of course, we all know that we should protect our skin from too much ultraviolet light. A natural protection factor is enough for more olive skins but if your skin is pale you will already know that the protection factor needs to increase. The sun’s rays are deceptive and stronger in the summer months even on cloudy days. Increase your factor to the level for your skin type.

4. Exercise

Take exercise! Walk, run, cycle, swim. Whatever you enjoy, exercise where you raise your heartrate even a little will be beneficial to your skin and your mental health. Moving oxygen around your body, I believe, is probably the best way to invigorate and have glowing, healthy skin.

5. Protect

Keep all that health and moisture held in by applying cold pressed oil. Skin loves oil! In moderation and in combination with a healthy lifestyle, there is no better way to keep your skin succulent, sexy, hydrated, soft and touchable than by applying what the earth has provided for us! Unadulterated natural oils are the only way to go.
